Finding the Mods

Downloading the Mods

Assume you’ve found the mod you want to install, such as Don Adams’ “Custom Character: The Link.” Simply click the download button, and you’ll be prompted to log in if you haven’t already. Save the file on your computer and keep track of where you stored it.

Installing the Mods

To install the mod, navigate to Don’t Starve’s folder. Most people will navigate to C: Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/dont starve. Go to the “mods” folder from there. Following that, right-click the downloaded mod file and choose “Extract to.” Select a location for the mod files to be extracted.

Activating the Mods

Now that you’ve extracted the mod files to the correct location, the next step is activating the mod in-game. Start Don’t Starve and select “Mods” from the main menu. The mod you just installed should appear in the list. To see the mod in action, click on it to enable it, then start a new game.
