This guide will teach you through installing mods for Bonelab on the Quest 2 without needing a developer account.
This method works if you have a regular PC, laptop, or even a Mac. If you don’t have a computer, refer to our no-PC tutorial that requires an Android phone.
With these mods, you can become John Wick, Batman, Spider-Man, or even Goku, and enjoy different levels in the game.
Follow these steps to download and install BONELAB mods:
- Step 1: Download Mods
- Step 2: Unzip Mods
- Step 3: Transfer Mods to Quest 2
- Step 4: Check Mod Folders
- Step 5: Change Avatars and Levels
Step 1: Download Mods
First, connect your Quest 2 to your computer using a data transfer USB to USB-C cable, like a charging cable. Then, open your internet browser, go to mods.io, and click on “Browse games.”
Search for “Bone lab” and select a mod you like. We’ll use a Goku Avatar and a level mod called “Shipment for Code 4” as examples. Click on the mod, find “Live files,” and click on “Android.” Remember, if a mod doesn’t have an Android file, it won’t work on Quest 2. Press the zip file to start the download.

Step 2: Unzip Mods
To unzip mods, you need an application like WinRAR. If you don’t have it, Google “WinRAR” and install the application. Locate the downloaded zipped mods, unzip them, and delete the zip files if desired.
Step 3: Transfer Mods to Quest 2
Connect your Quest 2 to your computer using the cable, and in the Quest headset, press “allow” for file access. Open the Quest files folder and transfer the mods to the Bone lab mods folder. To find the mods folder, click on “Internal storage,” “Android,” “Data,” “com.stresslevel0.lab” (it’s alphabetical and near the bottom), “Files,” and then “Mods.”

Step 4: Check Mod Folders
Before transferring the mods, check how many folders the mod is in. If it’s in multiple folders, save the one that’s only one level above the mod, as shown in the video. If you downloaded a mod with both Windows and Quest versions, just select the Quest version.
Step 5: Change Avatars and Levels
With mods installed, you can now change your avatars in the Avatar section in the lab. To play on different levels, go to the mod section in the lab. Have an amazing time playing as various characters and exploring new levels in Bonelab!
